After SOFT MACHINE's disbanding, two from its members, saxophonist Elton DEAN and bass player Hugh HOPPER joined ex-NATIONAL HEALTH Pip PYLE (drums) and Alan GOWEN (keyboards) to follow their adventure. Logically, their music is an excellent compromise between both their styles: the jazzier and even sometimes free music of SOFT MACHINE and the smooth and worked out compositions of NATIONAL HEALTH. One of the last true emanations from the Canterbury school.
