Spring’s sole album is one of the most atmospheric British progressive rock records of the early 1970s. Built around the rare sound of several Mellotrons working together, the music has a soft but dramatic character: melodies seem to float rather than simply move forward, while the arrangements shift between pastoral calm, melancholy balladry and more forceful progressive passages.

What makes the album so special is its emotional restraint. Spring never sound as if they are trying to overwhelm the listener; instead, they create a carefully layered world of voices, keyboards, guitar and rhythm section, where each song unfolds with patience and quiet intensity. This Flawed Gems edition expands the original album with three additional tracks, offering a fuller view of a band whose brief recorded life left behind one of the most distinctive albums in the British prog underground.
