Legendary British soul singer Chris Farlowe was one of the hottest performers of the Sixties. Praised by his peers, such as Zoot Money and Georgie Fame, he was taken up by Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones' manager Andrew Oldham. Their plan was to transform him from club act into a hit artist.
When Farlowe joined Oldham's label Immediate in 1966, he was launched with a series of excellent performances, including his best known Number One hit 'Out Of Time'. This comprehensive collection celebrates Farlowe's Immediate years with 20 tracks that include soulful versions of 'Ride On Baby', 'Paint It Black', 'Handbags And Gladrags' and his favourite work-out number 'In The Midnight Hour'.
The best production values of the era and a full supporting cast of top musicians ensured that these tracks have sustained their impact and appeal over the years and remind us that the raucous voiced Chris Farlowe was indeed a man of his time.
