This legendary album, originally released in 1974 is the second album produced by John Cale and her fifth in collaboration with him. Brian Eno on synthesizer and electronic instruments adds great to the harmonium-based sound of Nico on "Desertshore" and "Marble Index". "Forget to Answer" is about her feelings when Nico could not reach her ex-lover Jim Morrison by phone just to find out later that he had died. All songs on the album were written by Nico, except for the cover of The Doors' "The End" and a version of the German national anthem "Das Lied Der Deutschen".
40 years after its original release, a bonus tracks mainly from the same period have been added to the pack in the form of a whole LP.
