RPM follow up their highly successful Teenage Opera Soundtrack album with the full story of what led up to that significant event in 1967. Focusing on the work of producer Mark Wirtz from his arrival in the UK in 1964 to his departure in 1971 -his sound as it developed and built up to the Teenage Opera, then its influence on his sound afterwards. The music develops though Wirtz initial aping of US pop, his Spector period, his Go Go period into his own 'movies on record' with everything and the kitchen sink thrown into the mix. The result is a fascinating story, told by Wirtz in the notes, exploding the myths and telling the truth; a fascinating collection of 1960's music mostly on CD for the first time. Only five tracks duplicate the Soundtrack, essential tracks for illustrating the point in context, which gives the listener another 33 tracks to play with and 2 of those are previously unreleased.
