Also contains the Joe Butler-helmed final album 'Revelation: Revolution ’69' (1969), original guitarist Zal Yanovsky’s solo album 'Alive And Well In Argentina' (1968) and stereo and mono versions of the early Lovin’ Spoonful tracks included on Elektra’s 1966 compilation 'What’s Shakin’, the mono mixes appearing on CD for the first time.

This expansive 7CD box set gathers together the complete 1960s recordings by The Lovin’
Spoonful, one of the most beloved American groups of the decade. Featuring 170 tracks, the set
includes their classic studio albums, soundtrack work, rare singles, mono and stereo mixes,
demos, out-takes, alternative versions and related solo material.
Emerging from the Greenwich Village folk scene, The Lovin’ Spoonful developed a joyful and
distinctive sound that blended jug band music, blues, folk, rock and roll and bright melodic
pop. Often described as America’s answer to The Beatles, the band were led by John Sebastian’s
gifted songwriting and vocals, Zal Yanovsky’s inventive guitar work, Steve Boone’s bass and
Joe Butler’s drums.
The collection includes all of the group’s major hits, among them Do You Believe In Magic,
You Didn’t Have To Be So Nice, Daydream, Did You Ever Have To Make Up Your Mind,
Summer In The City, Rain On The Roof, Nashville Cats,
Darling Be Home Soon, Six O’Clock and She Is Still A Mystery.
Also featured are bonus tracks such as Alley Oop, demos, instrumentals and alternative takes.
