After co-leading one of the better bands of the ‘60s (Spirit) and one of the better bands of the ‘70s (Jo Jo Gunne), singer Jay Ferguson grabbed some friends (Joe Walsh, Joe Vitale, producer Bill Szymczyk), headed for Florida and made a couple of solo albums, of which this is the second and most commercially successful. A tropical vibe definitely can be heard here, but the best thing about this record is that its easygoing but passionate rock-pop is somehow largely immune to the soulless corporate-rock that held sway at the time (1978), in part thanks to Walsh’s guitar-playing, which ranks among his best.
