R&B/soul/pop singer Brook Benton was already world famous when he signed to Atlantic Records in the late 1960's and recorded the albumToday and the album Home Style (both released in 1970). Today features the definitive hit single version of Tony Joe White's "Rainy NightIn Georgia" along with many other soul hits featuring backing vocals by The Sweet Inspirations and production by Arif Mardin (the manbehind many Aretha Franklin classic singles). Home Style features more soulful songs including Booker T's "Born Under A Bad Sign", aswell as tunes by Dylan, Tony Joe White and Joe South. The Dixie Flyers (featuring Big Star producer Jim Dickinson on guitar and keyboards)provide the instrumental backing along with saxophone maverick King Curtis and vocalist Cissy Houston.
