Singer Tracy Nelson first came to light as part of the soulful hippy country rock band Mother Earth in the late 1960's. By the time of her selftitled solo album for Atlantic Records in 1974 (produced by Bob Johnston, who also produced Dylan's Blonde On Blonde) she had befriendedthe likes of New Orleans' legend Allen Toussaint who did the horn arrangements and backing vocalist Merry Clayton (who also sang on theStone's Gimme Shelter). One of the highlights of this album (available on CD for the first time) is a duet with Tracy and Willie Nelson onthe classic song "After The Fire Is Gone" (with harmony vocals by Linda Ronstandt) and an interesting version of Bill Wither's soul hit "LeanOn Me". The CD also includes a new interview with Tracy Nelson. Overall the album is an amazing blend of 1970's country, soul and rock!
