A discovery and a half! This short-lived L.A. duo that included ex-Poor member/Ballroom songwriter Randy Naylor along with Constantine Gusias was well respected by their peers just check out the list of players on the album! This never-before released album was to be the second production by Joey Stec and Ralph Scala for their UA deal, changes at the company meant they said "no thanks" - their loss! With a cast of players including not one but three Byrds (Chris Hillman, Clarence White, and Michael Clarke) plus the cream of the emergent Hollywood session young guns (Chuck Blackwell, Dywayne Bryant) and even Randy Fuller of the Bobby Fuller 4, this is a west coast post psych treat! In an odd place where softpop met psych and Americana is where Twin engine are at, with Chris Hillman revisiting his days as a jazz bassist *and* a demon mandolin player and Clarence White SMOKIN' with some of his best recorded work, this is a hell of a find!! A must for fans of The Byrds, Americana, and west coast rock in general, Twin Engine are the missing link to be sure, but one whose eclecticism stands up today better then ever!
