"“Thirty years on, the forgotten stars of Glam Rock are shining again." Times
A growing collectors genre as highlighted by a major Record Collector article earlier this year and a story covered by the newspaper broadsheets .These are obscure yet high quality singles from the glam era - roughly 1973-1975 - long since forgotten about, lost but now being hunted down by a small and dedicated group of enthusiasts. Thanks to those articles however, the small and dedicated group are expanding .
Each track stands up in its own right as an essential element of glam rock history and together they link the sound that an era forgot with riotous punk around the corner. How to qualify? Well its specifically in the sound but common denominators appear to be :
- Glammy sounding band names suggesting power or space or aggro .
- Love orientated or rocky, bovver sounding song titles
- Untamed rock moments, fresh melodies, plus killer period vocals
- Last but not least a bizarre image. This compilation has contributions from two of the genre founders Johnny Trunk and Bob Stanley, and is a great addition to all collections.
