Boomerang was formed by former members of The Animals following the group's break-up, but rather than revisiting familiar British rhythm & blues, the band embraced a heavier and more expansive direction. Their only album blends hard rock, blues and progressive influences into a confident collection of songs that showcases powerful guitar work, expressive vocals and a willingness to move between delicate melodies and forceful, riff-driven passages.
Released in 1971, the album captures a period when British rock musicians were stretching beyond traditional blues structures without abandoning them altogether. Strong songwriting and dynamic performances give Boomerang a distinct identity of its own, making it far more than a footnote in the careers of its members. Over the years it has become a rewarding discovery for listeners drawn to the heavier side of early-1970s British rock.
