"As a piece of musical history and aural entertainment, this is a more than worthwhile collection." Shindig!
This is the next in release our Bam Caruso series, overseen by Phil Smee. Run by founder and record producer Martin Clarke in the early 60's Clarion was about Western Australia's only label, but it made a big impression on the Oz scene, with a number of singles further being licensed overseas in the US and Uk. Clarion's biggest artist was Johnny Young, and the label was also the breeding ground for the Valentines, fronted by one Bon Scott.
Clarion was distributed by Festival who eventually took over the Young contract, but the label had enough hits from other artists to keep going until the mid 70's. We have enlisted the help of 'ace' compiler Alec Palao to construct this must have compendium of raw and exciting sounds, from the peak mid 60's period, none of which has been available on CD before. Further assistance has been given by Martin Clarke.
Recently there have been three other collections of Australian 60's pop rock very successfully released by Ace. Further to which collections of 60's pop rock from other countries such as Sweden, Holland, Spain, Japan have helped create a growing collectors market for 60's World Pop/Rock. The RPM release has no duplicated tracks and a different theme, but fits perfectly into that same collectors genre.
