LPCDreissues: Looking forward to the past

A document of the extraordinary live performance that propelled Quebec duo Angine De Poitrine to international attention. Recorded for KEXP during the Trans Musicales festival in Rennes, this session captures Khn de Poitrine and Klek de Poitrine at their most intense, combining microtonal guitars, looping patterns and powerful, precision-driven drumming.

The pair's music inhabits a wonderfully strange territory somewhere between psychedelic rock, math rock, experimental prog and hypnotic repetition. Complicated rhythmic structures and unusual guitar tunings are delivered with an energy that makes the music feel immediate rather than academic, while their unmistakable visual presentation adds another dimension to the performance.

The session opens with the twisting grooves of Sarniezz, moving through the looping and increasingly hypnotic Mata Zyklek before reaching the explosive Fabienk and concluding with Sherpa. The KEXP appearance became a viral success and introduced Angine De Poitrine's singular sound to a much wider audience.
