Phoenix’s Mugur De Fluier is one of the key Romanian progressive rock albums of the 1970s. Originally released in 1974, it shows the band moving deeply into Romanian folklore, blending archaic melodies, folk instruments, choral passages and progressive rock arrangements into a sound that is both regional and adventurous.

Compared with many Western European prog records of the same period, Mugur De Fluier has a very distinctive identity: flute, strings, acoustic textures and traditional rhythmic patterns sit beside electric guitar, bass and rock dynamics. Tracks such as Strunga, Andrii Popa, Mica Țiganiadă and the title track make this album a landmark for anyone interested in Eastern European progressive and folk-rock recordings. This Nemo Records LP reissue comes in a gatefold cover and was limited to 500 copies.
