Twogether were a short-lived progressive rock duo from Düsseldorf consisting of keyboard player and singer Klaus Bangert and drummer Reinhard Fischer. The two musicians had previously worked together in BBC, a group assembled from former members of The Beathovens, Blue Squad and The Crew. When the remaining members departed in early 1973, Bangert and Fischer decided to continue without replacements.

Using only keyboards, drums, percussion and occasional vocals, the duo created a surprisingly full and varied sound. Bangert’s organ supplies melodies, chords and bass lines, while piano and synthesizer broaden the arrangements. Fischer’s energetic drumming moves between firm rock rhythms, jazz-influenced playing and freer percussive passages.

“Percussion” opens the album with an atmospheric mixture of synthesizer effects, restless drumming and psychedelic keyboards. “Out Of Range,” “On The Move” and “Toss-Up” place greater emphasis on instrumental interplay, combining jazz-rock rhythms with organ-led progressive rock.

The vocal pieces reveal a more melodic side of the duo. “Don’t Cry,” “Make Me Feel Alright,” “I Look Around” and “Meet Me Every Day” combine melancholy English-language vocals with warm organ textures and concise psychedelic-pop structures. The instrumental “Bolero” adapts the familiar rhythmic idea associated with Maurice Ravel, while “Cathedral” introduces appropriately solemn, church-like organ sounds.

The closing “Fusion” brings together the record’s progressive, psychedelic and jazz-influenced elements. This expanded Garden of Delights edition also includes “I Was Away Too Long” and “I’ve Found A Love Again,” the two songs from Twogether’s only single and the remainder of the duo’s complete recorded output.
