Agape presents previously unreleased 1973 recordings by the German progressive jazz-rock group Tetragon. The band were part of the same broad underground world as organ-driven Krautrock and early fusion, but their music is more structured and musicianly than many loose jam recordings of the period, with strong keyboard work, guitar, bass and drums moving through long, instrumental-heavy pieces.
The album is centred on extended tracks such as Agape, A German Western and For Example, where the group combine progressive rock architecture with jazz-rock energy and classical touches. There is also a version of Eddie Harris’ Freedom Jazz Dance, showing how naturally the band could move between rock intensity and fusion phrasing.
