Authors of one of the rarest records of the entire Italian progressive scene of the '70s, "Riflessioni: Idea d'Infinito", considered by many a must-have in any Italian-prog collection, Dalton released their second and last LP "Argitari" in 1975, in a three-spread gatefold format, faithfully reproduced in this Vinyl Magic reissue, the first ever in almost forty years.
In the two years between the debut and "Argitari" - a term coined by combining the initial letters of the group members' names - there was the victory at Pop Festival in Zurich, and a line-up change which saw flutist Alex Church and keyboardist Themes Reduzzi leaving the band. Guitarist Aronne Cereda then took the reins of the group, directing the band's sound towards even more acoustic and melodic paths.
In 1974 the band tried to take part to the famous Sanremo Festival, but their song "La donna e il bambino" was rejected due to lyrics considered uncompatible with the spirit of the event; they tried also to change the song title and lyrics, but without success: the opportunity fell through, and after the release of "Argitari" the band split up. Although it tends to be avoided by prog-purists, the LP deserves to be revalued and contextualised, as a perfect bond between Italian prog and melodic pop.
