FIRST OFFICIAL 2025 US REISSUE! Los Angeles folk-psych outfit that grew out of mid-’60s band The Ashes—whose alumni later formed The Peanut Butter Conspiracy. The name was revived in 1968 with new frontwoman Pat Taylor and drummer John Voight, steering the sound toward dreamy, harmony-laden folk-rock with a light psychedelic haze.
Cut in 1968 with producer Jackie Mills and released on Vault Records (commonly dated 1969, though some sources place it slightly later), the group’s lone LP marries gentle acid-folk textures to concise pop craft. Over a set that includes pieces like “Gone to Sorrow,” “Sleeping Serenade,” “Homeward Bound,” “Sands of Love,” “My Life Has Changed,” “Return Home,” “Her Invention,” “Look Around Rock,” and “The Now,” the record balances soft-focus vocals, chiming guitars, and subtle psych flourishes. Long a cult item, it has since been reissued on CD and modern vinyl.
