Boris is one of the legendary obscurities of American progressive rock. Recorded in 1975 and originally privately pressed as a demonstration album, it captured Yezda Urfa at their most raw, energetic and uncompromising, long before the group received wider recognition through the later release of Sacred Baboon.
The Indiana quintet combine the symphonic sweep of Yes with the intricate counterpoint and sudden directional changes associated with Gentle Giant, while maintaining a distinctly eccentric identity of their own. Breakneck tempo shifts, elaborate vocal passages and an unusually broad instrumental palette carry the music through acoustic interludes, dense keyboard arrangements, jagged guitar sections and bursts of surreal humour.
This carefully produced edition restores the album through an all-analogue mastering chain using the original master tapes. Pressed on 180-gram vinyl and housed in a high-quality tip-on sleeve, it presents this highly collectable US progressive-rock recording with exceptional clarity, depth and presence.
