LPCDreissues: Looking forward to the past

Formed in 1969 and closely associated with the Mountain circle, this formidable New York quintet was part of the early ’70s hard rock vanguard. Sharing stages with giants like Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath, Ten Years After, and The Faces, they earned a strong live following, though mainstream success always eluded them. Their sole, self-titled album—released in September 1970—remains a powerful artifact of the era: gritty, blues-drenched, and blazing with proto-metal energy. While it failed to chart at the time, it’s now celebrated as a long-lost treasure of American heavy rock, newly appreciated by collectors and rock historians.
