"Imilla" is the fifth studio album by the Perugian band Il Bacio della Medusa, a record that abandons the electronic experiments of their previous album "Seme*" to return to the visceral and multifaceted rock that has characterized the stylistic signature of much of the group's production from its origins to the present.
We are faced with a new concept album, this time 'contemporary' and inspired by the figure of Monika Ertl, whose name as a fighter in the Bolivian militias in the 1960s and 70s was "Imilla." Born from a predominantly acoustic version, entirely created by the frontman Simone Cecchini, once presented to the rest of the band, thanks mainly to the arrangements by Diego Petrini, "Imilla" has finally taken on its current progressive and hard rock sound, without completely losing its initial folk and Latin nature.
In "Imilla," in addition to the core of the band with its twenty years of activity, which includes the percussion and keyboards of the multifaceted Diego Petrini, the pounding bass of Federico Caprai, the caressing and sharp flutes and saxophones of Eva Morelli, and the theatrical voice of Simone Cecchini, the biting and roaring riffs of the new guitarist Andrea Morelli (Eva's younger brother) fit perfectly. The result is yet another excellent offering from one of the most significant bands in the modern Italian prog-rock scene!
