Shaped by the influence of bands like Creedence Clearwater Revival and The Who, it still sounds unmistakably their own—driven by a distinctive, electrifying guitar tone that sets the record apart.

Although they did not appear at the iconic Avándaro festival, the group nonetheless became Mexico’s most successful psychedelic rock export of the era. The explosive “Nasty Sex,” together with tracks such as “If You Want It” and “Melynda,” helped propel their first album onto sales charts around the world. While the band’s sound evolved significantly in later years, this 1971 debut remains their defining release and a benchmark of Mexican acid rock.
Their trajectory was soon affected by the crackdown on the La Onda movement, when government repression led labels to pull back from local rock and the scene was effectively pushed underground. Combined with internal tensions, this climate contributed to the group’s split with Polydor in 1973.
Afterwards, La Revolución de Emiliano Zapata entered a new creative chapter, leaning more into ballads and periodically adopting emerging musical trends across the years.
