Landscape of Life was Osanna’s fourth studio album and the final recording made by the celebrated original line-up responsible for some of the most distinctive Italian progressive rock of the early 1970s.
Originally released by Fonit Cetra in 1974, the album followed the intense Mediterranean experimentation of Palepoli with a more polished and internationally oriented sound. English-language vocals appear prominently, while the compositions retain the group’s characteristic mixture of hard rock, jazz, symphonic textures and dramatic rhythmic changes.
“Il Castello dell’Es” opens the record with heavy guitar, Mellotron, saxophone and powerful ensemble passages. The title track introduces a more atmospheric approach, combining acoustic and electric instrumentation with flute, synthesizer and expressive vocals. “Fog in My Mind” develops through darker jazz-rock sections, while “Fiume” and “Somehow, Somewhere, Sometime” form an extended closing sequence that moves from melodic reflection to an expansive instrumental finale.
The album features Lino Vairetti on vocals, guitars, keyboards and Mellotron, Danilo Rustici on guitars and keyboards, Elio D’Anna on flute and saxophones, Lello Brandi on bass and Massimo Guarino on drums and percussion. Their adventurous interplay makes Landscape of Life an essential conclusion to Osanna’s classic period.
This limited edition presents the album on 180-gram clear green vinyl in a gatefold sleeve.
