Built around singer and multi-instrumentalist Alan Marshall and keyboard player Bobby Sass, the group brought together musicians with strong studio and live backgrounds, creating a sound that is loose, soulful and unusually expansive.
The album mixes blues-rock, soul, jazz touches and psychedelic improvisation into five long pieces. Brass colours, flute, organ, guitar and a strong rhythm section give the music a restless late-60s feel, while the extended Run, Shaker Life turns the second side into a long, driving jam.
