mini-LP CD"
Housed in LP miniatured sleeve with RCA innersleeve replica Linernotes by Richie Unterberger. Glass Prism's debut album, 1969's Poe Through the Glass Prism, is one of the most unusual concept albums to emerge from the psychedelic era. The Scranton, Pennsylvania band devoted an entire LP to songs putting Edgar Allan Poe's writing to music. Poe's prose was backed by a hard rock sound in line with the combinations of organ, piano, and gritty soulful vocals being popularized by late-'60s groups such as Procol Harum and Vanilla Fudge. Recorded at legendary guitar Les Paul's studio, the album was highlighted by the band's adaptation of Poe's "The Raven," a Top Ten hit in the Scranton area, though wider exposure for the group was hindered by circumstances beyond their control. This reissue includes historical liner notes featuring extensive comments by Glass Prism guitarist Tom Varano."
