Although Magna Carta began life as a folk duo, they soon began leaning towards more progressive rock. Their 1971 Songs From Wasties Orchard - considered to be the band's magnum opus - cemented their role as one of the top British progressive folk bands of the period. A work of delicate and melding atmospheres that grows after every listen. Guitarist Davey Johnstone would go on to collaborate with Elton John.
