IQ is a British neo-progressive rock band formed in the early 1980s, renowned for their intricate compositions and atmospheric soundscapes. Their eleventh studio album, The Road of Bones, released on May 3, 2014, marked a significant evolution in their musical journey. This album introduced keyboardist Neil Durant and welcomed back original bassist Tim Esau and drummer Paul Cook, reuniting a lineup that hadn't recorded together since 1989.

The Road of Bones delves into darker thematic territories, exploring introspective and somber narratives. The title track, for instance, is inspired by the harrowing history of the R504 Kolyma Highway in Russia, constructed by forced laborers during Stalin's regime. Lead vocalist Peter Nicholls was moved by this story, which he encountered in an airline magazine, and it influenced the song's haunting lyrics.
