This is the first studio album in 10 years from Richie whose career spans 4 decades.Richie moved from Brooklyn to Manhattan's Greenwich Village in 1961 and was an early arrival on the developing folk music scene. After recording two albums of demos for Douglas International Records in 1965, he went on to sign with Verve Records as well as joining up with Albert Grossman for management. The release of "Mixed Bag" in 1967 and the follow up, ""Something Else Again" (both Billboard chart entries) established Richie as a campus favourite. He also appeared at many festivals (Newport Folk Festival, Monterey Jazz Festival, Isle of Wight etc...), but it was his performance at 1969's Woodstock Festival that was the major turning point. As the opening act of a chaotic festival, he performed for a solid 3 hours and achieved instantaneous national recognition.Richie branched out into acting during the '70's, appearing in the original stage production of "Tommy", a lead role in the film version of "Catch My Soul" (based on "Othello") and co-starring with Richard Pryor in "Greased Lightning".He continued recording and releasing albums throughout the '80's and '90's as well as performing world-wide and has guested on various albums, the most recent being Peter Gabriel's "OVO" and Groove Armada's "Goodbye Country, Hello Nightclub".
