Label: Different Strokes For Different Folks
Fantuzzi is a New York–born singer and percussionist—often billed as a “global troubadour”—deeply connected to the Woodstock-era counterculture. He performed and served as an emcee at Woodstock in 1969, and his face later became widely recognized through a Newsweek cover associated with the festival.
An Open Heart (1978) is his cult-status private-press album, first issued on Akashic Records. It weaves psychedelic folk with relaxed, spiritual funk and a communal, free-festival vibe, and is frequently touted as a scene “holy grail”—with highlights including Jeremy Steig’s flute contributions and the record’s distinctive “Fast Side/Slow Side” structure.
