This ultimate double LP is a collection of Ellis’ years (1965-70) as the biggest superstar of Jamaican
rocksteady. Whether with the Flames, or dueting with his sister Hortense or Phillis Dillon - here
featured on many tunes - Ellis is undoubtedly the greatest soul singer of the 60s Jamaican
invasion, which also made him a star in the growing skinhead scene with incessant hits on the UK
charts, like “Rocksteady” “Breaking Up” “The Duke Of Earl” and “(Girl) I’ve Got A Date”. This
compilation shows the many reasons why Ellis had a huge comeback in reggae revival of the 90s
that is still going strong and whoever have had a chance to see him live, like at NYC Central Park
1999 Jamboree, knows what we are talking about.
