Get Dreamy, The Dream’s sole album, is a classic psychedelic-era rarity and was a well-played entry in Jimi Hendrix’s record collection. From organ-driven groovers to freaky workouts, Get Dreamy covered all the psychedelic bases.
The Dream were pioneers in Norway – in 1967, no other Norwegian band was exploring the newly extended limits of music. The band’s members had been in groups which were already popular. Like Britain’s almost-identically named The Cream – The Dream were a supergroup: another first in Norway.
The Dream were also the first band where guitarist Terje Rypdal was able to stretch out. Nowadays, Terje is internationally known as a jazz guitarist and composer. For this reissue, he is interviewed about The Dream.
As a bonus, RPM International’s definitive reissue of Get Dreamy adds the final recording made by the band, originally heard on Terje’s first solo album, 1968’s Bleak House.
