Donald Byrd was one of the most consistent trumpeters to come out of the legendary Detroit Jazz scene that moved to New York in the mid-fifties. Byrd delivered a beautiful, round, brassy tone often applied with intriguing ideas promising an intoxicating display of unsurpassed and often quite exquisite jazz showmanship.
