So what happens when a brilliant progressive rock band from Wiltshire decides to create a full-blown prog concept album about a fight between civilizations of robots and crayfish? ...They evoke the spirit of the great sixties/seventies record labels - Harvest, Vertigo, Island - as well as bands such as Pink Floyd, Nektar, Frank Zappa, The Nice and Caravan. They cram the album with rippling Hammond organ, searing lead guitar, wild voice-overs and special fx. They even decide to press it exclusively on vinyl, and house it in a gatefold sleeve, for added authenticity. For fans of great '60s/'70s bands such as Nektar, Caravan and The Nice, not to mention mid-period Pink Floyd will love it (although the band also mention Frank Zappa, Arthur Brown, Hawkwind, Gong and Hendrix as influences) but Cranium Pie add their own unique take on classic prog rock to create something new and very special.
