Night Works documents Gila’s original line-up performing seven previously unreleased compositions in Cologne on 26 February 1972. Recorded shortly before the group’s first dissolution, the session reveals a particularly free and forceful side of their music, built around Conny Veit’s guitar, Fritz Scheyhing’s keyboards, Walter Wiederkehr’s bass and Daniel Alluno’s percussion.
The band moves through hypnotic psychedelic passages, restless Krautrock rhythms and extended instrumental improvisation, culminating in the nearly fourteen-minute “The Gila Symphony.” Originally preserved as an archival live recording and first released in 1999, this Garden of Delights CD includes a detailed 32-page colour booklet.
