400 copies limited red vinyl Oda, a hard rock band from the San Francisco Bay Area, was formed in 1970. The group featured lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Art Pantoja, lead guitarist and keyboardist Randy Oda, bassist Kyle Schneider, and drummer Kevin Oda. Their self-titled album, often called The Black Album, was independently released in 1972 on Loud Records, with only about 1,000 copies pressed.
The album includes songs like "Mable," "Gabriel," and "How Do You Feel?", highlighting Randy Oda’s skillful guitar work, enhanced by echo effects, alongside a dynamic rhythm section. Their sound blends elements of hard rock, psychedelic influences, and bluesy undertones, supported by strong songwriting.
Although Oda received some local airplay on KSAN radio, the band dissolved by 1973. Over the years, their album has become a rare collector’s item, prized for its distinctive sound and limited availability.
