Something Else Again was Richie Havens’ second studio album. Released in January 1968, the sound here is more keyboard-heavy than its predecessor Mixed Bag, but Havens continues in a similar vein with his distinctive smoky voice and thumb-fretted open-tuned guitar.

The track "No Opportunity Necessary, No Experience Needed" is propelled by Warren Bernhardt's percussive electric piano and was later reworked by Yes on their second album, Time and a Word. "Inside of Him" and "Sugarplums" are ballads featuring the flute of Jeremy Steig, and "The Klan" and "Run Shaker Life" are similar in style to "Handsome Johnny," the Woodstock show-stopper. There is the obligatory Dylan cover “Maggie’s Farm”, and the album’s title track is over seven minutes of flower-powered sitar and tabla, very much of its time.

Havens died of a heart attack in April 2013 at his home in Jersey City, New Jersey at the age of 72. His remains were cremated and his ashes scattered from the air over the original site of the Woodstock Festival.
