The Musical Players were an informal collective of musicians brought together by Keith Ripley and Keith Washington. Known for their love of dropping acid in rural landscapes, the album’s title itself nods to psychedelic icons Timothy Leary and Owsley Stanley. Over the course of eleven tracks, the group performs mystical woodland ceremonies using electric guitar, sitar, violin, and other instruments to conjure a heady blend that sometimes veers into darker realms, with fuzzed-out guitars rising through the sonic haze. Deeply inspired by the Incredible String Band and early Tyrannosaurus Rex, this is essential listening for those enchanted by ley lines, tarot decks, windowpane acid, and elderflower wine.
