Spirit was hailed as one of the America's brightest and best new bands when they sprang into life in Los Angeles in the late Sixties. 'Clear Spirit' was their critically acclaimed third album, produced by Lou Adler and packed with great blues and rock performances.
Vocalist Jay Ferguson and the Hendrix influenced Randy California on lead guitar present a dynamic package of musical showmanship that still sounds fresh and exciting today. First released in 1969, the album features a range of distinctive blues, ballads and instrumentals, including a sultry 'Dark Eyed Woman' and lively boogie shuffle 'So Little Time To Fly'. The unusual 'Ice' is an orchestrated instrumental by their keyboard player John Locke.
Randy California sadly drowned in Hawaii in 1997, but 'Clear Spirit' serves as a fitting memorial to a fine musician.
