Label: Eclipse Records
Originally released in 1970, Music is a superb example of the fertile British underground rock scene that flourished as the 1960s gave way to a new decade. Frost drew on hard rock, blues and psychedelia, but rather than leaning heavily toward any single style, the band forged a sound built around strong songs, memorable guitar work and thoughtful arrangements. There is an easy confidence throughout the album, with each track developing naturally instead of being driven by instrumental excess.
What gives Music its lasting appeal is the balance between accessibility and musical ambition. The band moves comfortably from compact, melodic rock songs to more expansive pieces, always placing the emphasis on atmosphere and songwriting. Although Frost never enjoyed the recognition of many of their contemporaries, their only album has gradually become a rewarding rediscovery for collectors of obscure British rock. This Eclipse Records edition includes an additional bonus track, making it the most complete version of this overlooked classic.
