No Roses is a landmark 1971 album by English folk singer Shirley Collins, recorded with The Albion Country Band.
Released in October 1971, No Roses stands out for its ambitious fusion of traditional English folk with contemporary rock elements. The album features arrangements of traditional songs, brought to life by a collective of 27 musicians, including notable figures such as Richard Thompson, Simon Nicol, Dave Mattacks, Maddy Prior, and members of The Watersons. This ensemble, assembled by Ashley Hutchings—Collins' husband at the time—created a rich tapestry of sound that blends electric instruments with traditional folk melodies. The album was recorded at Sound Techniques and Air Studios in London, with production handled by Hutchings and Sandy Roberton .
