Now Hear This is reissued here for the first time. It is a potent fusion of funky blues rock. Recording at the same time as Shugie Otis, and with a similar blues background, Junior Hanson veered more to the Hendrix end of the fusion spectrum as opposed to Otis' Sly Stone approach. A rich blend of talents assist Junior on 'Now Hear This' with Clive Chaman (bass - Jeff Beck, Brian Auger), Jean Roussel (keyboards - Cat Stevens , Thin Lizzy, Police), Conrad Isadore (drums -Stephen Stills, Joe Cocker), plus plenty of other notables adding flourishes. The LP was originally released on ELPs Manticore label.
Junior Hanson previously paid his dues as Junior Kerr, guitarist/writer with Keef Hartley, live club guitarist in the US on tour with T Bone Walker, and in the UK with Herbie Goins. After Hanson, he became Junior Marvin upon joining Bob Marley and The Wailers in 1977 in time for 'Exodus', and staying with The Wailers until 1997. He was born Donald Hanson Marvin Kerr Richards, Jr, so maybe there is still Junior Richards to go?!
