You might file 'em under "Art-FolkRock", somewhere between "Beat Generation Ideology", "Hippie/Acid-Rock" and "Psychedelic Neo-Folky Protest" or whatever... but none of these munikers really fit because the Pearls Before Swine defy definition. One Nation Underground is perhaps less experimental than Balaklava but both records have their own charme and unique quality of content. In two words: constructive melancholy.
