Originally released in 1971, Aubrey Small is a hidden gem of the British progressive folk-rock scene. Formed in London in 1969, the band combined five-part vocal harmonies, twin guitars, flute and strong melodic songwriting, creating an elegant sound that bridges folk, progressive rock and British pop. Although the album failed to achieve commercial success upon its original release, it has since earned cult status among collectors for its sophisticated arrangements and warm, pastoral atmosphere.
Produced by John Anthony at Trident Studios, the album benefits from rich orchestral arrangements, guest musicians and polished production while retaining its intimate character. This Flawed Gems edition includes two bonus tracks, making it the definitive release of one of the finest overlooked British folk-prog albums of the early 1970s.
