Mirkwood’s only album is one of the rarest British underground rock records of the early 1970s. Originally pressed privately in 1973 in just 99 copies, the album has the feel of a band working outside the usual industry channels: unpolished, heavy, atmospheric and full of long guitar-led passages.

The Dover, Kent group mix psychedelic rock, blues-rock and progressive elements into a sound that is raw but highly appealing to collectors of private-press British rock. Tracks such as Just Because, Clockwise, The Leech and the extended Love's Glass Of Sunshine show the band at their strongest, with dual guitars, rough vocals and a loose early-70s underground atmosphere. This Thors Hammer CD edition brings the album back into circulation with a booklet including a retrospective by guitarist Jack Castle.
