Delta Blues Band was formed in Copenhagen in 1968. In the spring of 1969, they had the opportunity to record an album with EMI, making it one of the first rock albums in Denmark to utilize multitrack recording techniques. Shortly after the release of their debut album, brothers Thomas and Michael left the band to form the successful group Pan.
By 1968, Denmark’s leading rhythm and blues band was Beefeaters. However, Delta Blues Band stood apart from them and other British-inspired R&B groups in the country. Their sound was rooted more in American blues, infused with a strong psychedelic influence, often accompanied by a striking light show.
The band shared the stage with renowned acts such as Chicken Shack, Taste, Fleetwood Mac, and John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers. Their sole album remains a rare collector’s item, commanding high prices. It holds a revered status among early underground blues records, alongside the works of Keef Hartley Band, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, and Savoy Brown—a true gem from start to finish.
