Liliental came into being while Dieter Moebius was taking a break from Cluster, a notable Krautrock group. The band featured talents from Kraan, including Helmut Hattler on electric bass, Johannes Pappert on alto saxophone, Okko Becker handling keyboards, vocals, guitar, and percussion, and Asmus Tietchens on Moog and grand piano. Conny Plank, who had worked on several Cluster albums, joined the ensemble, contributing his skills on guitar, keyboards, and vocals to round out the group.

Released in 1978 under the Brain label, Liliental's sole album is a testament to musical innovation, blending ambient synthesizer sounds with elements of rock, jazz, and diverse experimental sounds.

The album "Liliental" stands as a unique contribution to music history, showcasing the collective creativity of musicians like Conny Plank and Dieter Moebius. This work is notable for its engaging and complex soundscapes, displaying a range of versatility possibly even surpassing that of later Cluster works.

Featuring mesmerizing rhythms, expert instrumental solos, and captivating vocal segments, "Liliental" is a masterpiece not to be overlooked by aficionados of experimental music.
