Originally released in 1970, On the Way to Eden is the only album by French instrumental progressive rock group Eden Rose. Henri Garella’s Hammond organ and Jean-Pierre Alarcen’s electric guitar lead the quartet, supported by Christian Clairefond on bass and Michel Jullien on drums.

The album combines jazz-rock, psychedelia and blues-based progressive rock with a strong melodic character. The title track introduces the group’s energetic interaction between organ and guitar, while “Faster and Faster” and “Obsession” develop through driving rhythms, sharp instrumental exchanges and occasional fuzz-guitar passages.

“Feeling in the Living” and “Travelling” explore a lighter, more flowing side of the band, while “Walking in the Sea” gradually moves from a relaxed melodic theme into more adventurous guitar-led territory. The closing “Reinyet Number” returns to the album’s distinctive combination of Hammond organ, flexible rhythms and compact improvisation.

The musicians subsequently formed the core of Sandrose, adding singer Rose Podwojny to the line-up. This Lion Productions edition supplements the original album with “Under the Sun” and the shorter single version of “Travelling,” both taken from Eden Rose’s 1970 single.
