Having covered the odyssey of Jay Ferguson from Jo Jo Gunne to solo artist, it only made sense to us that we double back and see what happened to the band he left, Spirit! Especially when virtually none of this record has ever been on CD, having been almost totally ignored on Sony's 'Time Circle' Spirit anthology. That's probably because at this point only two members from the original band, the ageless drummer Ed Cassidy and keyboardist John Locke, were still on board. But, with producer David Briggs still at the controls—he had produced the preceding album, the critical smash 'The Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus'—'Feedback' defied the odds and stood in its own right as a worthy addition to the Spirit canon, charting as high as 'Sardonicus' thanks also in no small part to new additions J. Christian and especially Al Staehely, on guitar and bass/vocals, respectively. In fact, this album almost sounds like Jo Jo Gunne boogie in places, but with a contemplative, jazzy tinge—a definite early '70s rock experience! Includes 'Chelsea Girls; Cadillac Cowboys; Puesta Del Scam; Ripe and Ready; Darkness; Earth Shaker; Mellow Morning; Right on Time; Trancas Fog-Out; Witch', and an *unreleased bonus track* from the session, 'New York City'. New notes, too
