After departing from King Crimson in 1969 following the recording of the band's debut album, "In the Court of the Crimson King," Giles and McDonald formed a short-lived duo named after themselves. In 1971, they released a self-titled album, "McDonald and Giles," which showcased their musical prowess and featured a fusion of progressive rock, jazz, and folk elements. The album is considered a cult classic among fans of the genre. Despite the album's quality, the duo didn't continue, and both musicians pursued separate musical paths afterward.
